Photo Friday: From my past

Noakin arkki Suomenlinnassa

I lived on a fortress island

A long time ago I lived in this house. It is 250 years old and is called Noah's Ark, because it was in those days Helsinki's only and largest residential building, built for officers and their families. It is on one of the islands that belong to the fortress called Sveaborg (= Viapori or Suomenlinna= Finland's Castle). Today Viapori is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We lived in Suomenlinna

We lived on the first floor. The five windows above the door were our windows.

My dollshouses mosaique

A saying with many meanings:

We could add John Gardner's: "Details are the lifeblood of fiction".

Mahtikauppamies von Hueckin pehmeänmakuinen riistakäristys

A delicious meal at the medieval style restaurant Olde Hansa in Old Tallinn:
Roasted game for mighty merchant von Hueck:
Bean dumplings, rutabaga spiced with ginger, pickles, gherkins, cabbage, roasted wild boar and moose, crushed berries and pungent hot juice of mixed berries.
